Female high school seniors who are currently participating in any Rites of Passage/Cotillion affiliated with any chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. are ineligible for this scholarship.

Embodi Application (must be postmarked by October 1, 2011)
EMBODI is a national program sponsored Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., a public-service sorority. The purpose of the program is to focus on improving the plight of the African American male. EMBODI is designed for boys between the ages of 13 thru 18. Both informal and empirical data suggests that the vast majority of African-American males continues to be in crisis and is not reaching their fullest potential educationally, socially and emotionally. Christmas Adopt-a-Family. In December 2009 the St. Louis Alumnae Delta GEMS participated in the “100 Neediest Cases”. 100 Neediest Cases is an annual drive to lend a hand to those who need it most during the holiday season; each year, more than 10,000 families from the St. Louis area in need receive help from the program. WASHINGTON—Members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. across the globe are deeply saddened by the loss of Dr. Dorothy Irene Height, the organization’s 10th National President and chair and president emerita of the National Council of Negro Women. Dr. Height died early on the morning of April 20th of natural causes at Howard University Hospital in Washington, D.C. (more…)
