Ida Goodwin Woolfolk Memorial Scholarship
The Ida Goodwin Woolfolk Memorial Gospel Jazz and Blues Brunch (IGWGJB) is the signature event for the St. Louis Delta Foundation and the St. Louis Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Ida was Chair of the Delta Gospel, Jazz and Blues Brunch from its inception in 2013 until her passing on March 23, 2016. In 2017, the Brunch was renamed the Ida Goodwin Woolfolk Memorial Gospel, Jazz and Blues Brunch in her honor. The IGWGIB was later moved to March to coincide with Women’s History Month.
Ida Goodwin Woolfolk was a dedicated member of the St. Louis Alumnae Chapter for 54 years. She spent nearly 40 years a teacher, counselor and administrator with the St. Louis Public Schools. She served as consultant and volunteer for several organizations and local corporations. Regarded by many as a treasure. Ida was what people call a connector….bridging individuals of different cultures and viewpoints.
Proceeds from the IGWGJB provide funds for community programming for youth and families and support initiatives and programs focused on improving the quality of life for the St. Louis Community. Proceeds also provide funds for a scholarship at Harris Stowe State University in the name of Ida Goodwin Woolfolk.
The IGWGJB features a fabulous brunch, a headline Jazz artist and various local artists in the three genres. Due to COVID-19, the IGWGJB was placed on hold in 2020, donations are desired in any amount.
